Types and Views are two WordPress plugins that work together to let you create complex custom WordPress websites without touching the php code.
- The Types plugin defines content – creates Custom Post Types, Taxonomies and Custom Fields.
- The Views plugin allows you to display the content without learning php. It isn’t a drag and drop framework, you will need to know CSS and HTML to style and position the content on the page.
Use Types & Views
Types and Views are designed to work with any WordPress theme. The functionality that you add to your site with Views will continue to work even if you change or update your WordPress themes.
Using Views, you can display testimonials, showcases, sliders, Real Estate listings, classified ads and whatever else comes to mind. You setup everything from the WordPress admin without having to write a single line of code.
Get Types
The Types plugin is available for free in the WordPress plugin repository. It is similar to the Custom Post Types UI plugin. Types was created by the developers of WPML and is the only custom fields and post types plugin that’s built multilingual-ready. You’ll be able to translate everything, including texts and labels in the WordPress admin and user-content for front-page.
Pairing Types with Views is where the magic happens.
Get Views
You can purchase the Views plugin << [affiliate link] for an initial purchase price of $49 US from the their website. This will give you the right to use the plugin on unlimited sites with one year of support and updates. You’ll want to buy an ongoing license renewal every year (50% of the original purchase price) to be able to download updates and get support.
Types and Views have quite simply revolutionized the way I build WordPress websites. I’m so impressed by Types and Views that I intend to use it in most of my future web design portfolios.
Give Types and Views a try and then leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Personally I’m blown away.
Hey there! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when browsing from my iphone 4. I’m trying to find a template or
plugin that might be able to resolve this problem. If you have any recommendations, please share.
Cheers!
Hi Shelby,
Please look at this post about mobile.
Views has changed their pricing structure a big jump from $49/one time to $149/annual
Yes Sharon, I agree it is a huge jump but it is such a valuable plugin.
