Best WordPress SEO Plugins

wordpress seo plugins
WordPress has not only been designed with search engine optimization (SEO) in mind but there are also a number of great plugins that further enhance the SEO capabilities of WordPress. Adding these free plugins and using them properly while you blog achieve good search results.

These are the WordPress plugins that I currently use for SEO:

All in One SEO Pack is a powerful plugin that allows you to edit and control the Title, Meta description, and meta tags for each post you write. Some features:

  • Automatically optimizes your titles for search engines
  • Generates META tags automatically
  • Avoids the typical duplicate content found on WordPress blogs
  • For beginners, you don’t even have to look at the options, it works out-of-the-box. Just install.
  • For advanced users, you can fine-tune everything
  • You can override any title and set any META description and any META keywords you want.

When you activate the plugin the All in One SEO pack adds an editor to the post or page allowing you to set the title, keywords and descriptions manually. It is however recommended that you use the Dynamic Keyword Generator in most cases. Descriptions can be auto-generated or taken from the post-excerpt and keywords generated by tags and categories. With this option, all the keywords (and optionally tags as well) of whichever posts are currently showing on the posts page, will be automatically used as META keywords on your page for posts.

Sitemap Generator WordPress Plugin – will generate a graphical representation of the architecture of a website and help site visitors find what they are lookiing for and ensure that search engine spiders crawl all the pages of your site.

Google XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress is another great plugin.  Everytime you edit or create a post, your xml sitemap is updated and all major search engines that support the sitemap protocol, like, Google, MSN Search and YAHOO, are notified about the update.

SEO Slugs plugin removes common words like ‘a’, ‘the’, ‘in’ out of your post slug to make it more search engine friendly. The slug is often ingnored when writing a post and may end up being overly long. This plugin helps to create a SEO friendly permalink slugs that you are still able to customize if need be.

Please feel free to post a comment and suggest other plugins that you have found to be useful for SEO in WordPress.
