Event: Freelance Camp Toronto May 27, 2012
Presentation: “Every Freelancer needs a Great Website: Getting Started with WordPress”
Today I spoke at Freelance Camp Toronto.
a conference that focuses on how to be a better freelancer. It is a great networking event that provides opportunities in keeping with the tag line – “Be in business for yourself, not by yourself”.
WordPress is the most popular website content management system on the internet. If you are a beginner, wanting to try out WordPress for the first time, this is the session for you.
We’ll look at the reasons WordPress is so popular and discuss the differences between wordpress.org and wordpress.com. We’ll take a live tour of the WordPress dashboard including: how to login, creating a static page, creating a blog post, adding images, simple changes to the look of your site, etc.
You should leave this workshop with an idea of how WordPress works and info on how to get started. It’s a great first step before taking an intensive in-person WordPress workshop.
