Land Acknowledgement

I am privileged to live and work on the ancestral lands of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, Mississaugas of the Credit and the Huron-Wendat. Land that is governed by the Toronto Purchase Treaty 13, the Two Row Wampum Treaty and the Dish With One Spoon Treaty. I acknowledge the unceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.

I am committed to peaceably sharing and caring for the resources around the Great Lakes with a spirit of inclusiveness. Today, the meeting place of Tkaronto is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. The name ‘Etobicoke‘ was derived from the Mississauga word wah-do- be-kang, meaning ‘place where the alders grow‘ and I am grateful to be here.
