The Barter Babes Project – A Blogging Success Story

I’ve bartered my web design services for artwork, landscaping, a birthday party, legal advice and house painting. I love bartering, I love blogging and I love great blogging success stories so when I heard about The Barter Babes Project I was immediately intrigued.

WHO? Women with self-doubt when it comes to your money!
WHAT? The goal of The Barter Babes Project is to Barter with 300 women in 1 year. You barter with Shannon for financial advice. You can trade something you’ve baked, cooked, lessons, a service or product from your business – whatever!
WHERE? GTA – Greater Toronto Area
WHEN? November 18th, 2010 – November 18th, 2011

Women of Toronto, this is your opportunity to get tailored financial advice from a certified professional without paying astronomical fees!

THE BLOGGER:
Shannon Simmons is the woman behind The Barter Babes Project.  Shannon is a CFP professional, registered with the Financial Planning Standards Council.  Having worked at a top wealth management firm since University Shannon now wants to help women feel confident about the choices they make with their money. Shannon is looking forward to a great year that will be full of amazing women, 300 financial plans, some heart-to-heart conversations, neat experiences and tasty food.

THE SUCCESS:
It is early days but Shannon is well on her way to meeting her goal to Barter with 300 women in 1 year.  I’m sure she is meeting great people and having a wonderful time along the way. If Shannon had approached 300 women and said, “I want to offer you a free finanacial planning session” a lot of women would have refused. Now she has women thinking, “oh what can I barter?“. Shannon is building relationships so many of these women will be pleased to continue working with her as their financial planning advisor in the future. What a wonderful way to build up a clientele!

Shannon is using social media such as Facebook and Twitter to get out her message.  Members of the press from toronto.com and woman.ca were at The Barter Babes Project launch on November 18th.  There have been a couple of articles in local press but I’m sure that the mainstream press will take notice, especially as Shannon cashes in on her barter with Barter Babe #32.0: PR Pitch/Proposal. I’m also going to be a Barter Babe sprucing up the The Barter Babes Project WordPress website.

This is a smart woman with a great idea. Barter on Shannon!
